The second story balcony had looked over the galley by the front foyer, lending itself as an ideal spot to build out a new office. The bay windows provided excellent natural light and the former balcony railing offered a proper entryway for sliding folding doors from the upstair's landing. All the particular elements of the office combine wood (re-discovered African Mahagony) with glass: the doors have sand-blasted panels, the railing has clear -tempered panels to allow natural light in from the bay windows; and the desk has 3/4" glass shelves floating above the mahagony top. The floor is quarter-sawn white oak.
